Shaw Convention Centre, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, in Canada’s
first-ever all-women’s card, there were five women’s bouts on the
card.
The main featured the highly anticipated rematch of
Jelena
Mrdjenovich,135, now (12-1), who won by an eight round unanimous
decision and the WIBA Eliminator, over Layla McCarter, 129, now
(18-12-4). McCarter broke her radial bone in the forearm in the
fourth round, but continued all the last rounds. McCarter fought
with one arm through those later rounds. Team McCarter told
WBAN, "We came back from the hospital and Layla broked her forearm
in two pieces, she will need surgery as soon we get back to Las
Vegas, she will probably be out for three months." Final judges
scores were 78-75, 79-74, and 79-73; In the co-feature,
Lisa
"Bad News" Brown, now (11-1-2), 124, defeated
Kelli Cofer, 124,
(10-3-4), in a featherweight six-rounder. Final judges scores was
59-51, 60-53, and 59-54; In a super middleweight bout,

Olga Heron.
The fight was on the ESPN2 "Tuesday Night Fights" but was not
televised and was the last fight on the card of the evening.
Final judges scores were 58-56, 5856, and 59-55.

Olga Heron, 120, won a four-round unanimous decision
over Claudette Alexander, 122. According to WBAN's
Correspondent Durell Wambolt, Olga applied a tremendous amount of
pressure from the start and all Claudette could do was run and hold
to survive. On all judges score cards, it was 4-36 for Olga.

Mississauga, Ontario, Canada PHOTOS
Olga Heron, 126, Mississauga, won a controversial four-round
split decision over Heather Stevens, 125, Norfolk, Virginia.
Heron is now 2-0-0 (1KO) and Stevens is 0-2-0 (0K). Judges scoring
was 39-37, 39-37, 37-39. Heather's Team told WBAN, "We were
robbed and the whole Canadian crowd boo'ed at the decision and all
the male fighters and trainers that saw the fight told us we were
robbed..... Even Lisa Brown said we were robbed...."
Photojournalist Wambolt said, "This was a very evenly contested
match and definitely one I would like to see again. Those who I
spoke to around ringside after the fight, seemed evenly split as to
who they thought won. I spoke with Stevens afterward and due to the
car wreck she was involved in that sidelined this match up in April,
she was only able to train for this bout for 3 weeks.
I for one would like to
see a rematch." The Canadian Pro Boxing Scene website that had
coverage of this fight, also confirmed that they even felt that
Stevens had won the bout, and they also confirmed that the crowd.
They said the following: "However, the Virginia fighter came
out on the short end of a split decision that, when announced,
caused cat calls from the local fans, who were convinced the
Southern belle had won, to jeer loudly. Judges' scorecards: 37-39
39-37 39-37. We scored it for Stevens."

Toronto, Canada - EXHIBITION PHOTOS
Olga Heron had an three-round exhibition match with
Lisa
Brown. Heron and Brown wore headgear. No decision. Immediately
after the match, Olga took the microphone and thanked everybody,
including Lisa Brown and told her it was an honor to be in the same
ring with such an experienced boxer. Lisa used the ring very
well and controlled the pace of the fight. Olga did catch Lisa
with several good right hand counters during the exhibition.
