December 18, 2004 - Shingu College Stadium, Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, Korea
Juhee Kim, 18,  of Korea, has won the IFBA World Jr. Flyweight title over a game Melissa Shaffer, 26, United States,  in 10 rounds.  Kim won by unanimous decision. Judges scores were 100-90, 99-91, and 100-89. According to local news sources, Kim had to postpone the world junior championship because she could not find a sponsor, and other reasons. Kim has became the second South Korean female world champion boxer, and first teenage world champion. Kim's record is reported to be 7-1-1 (3KO), with her only loss coming by way of Lee in the year 2992, in a flyweight Korean championship. Shaffer suffered her first loss as a pro, and is now 8-1-0 (5KO). In the fight, Kim was about four-inches taller than Shaffer, and used her height to her advantage, using her jab throughout the fight.  Shaffer received a nose bleed in the third round.

All were strawweights, and yet the boxers who were winless did not fight each other....hmmm

February 22, 2003 - Memorial Hall, in Waldron, Arkansas
Strawweight Melissa “TNT” Shaffer, 95, scored an impressive first round KO over Jayde Chafardon, 98 lbs. These “tiny” fighters showed the crowd that being small doesn’t mean that they are not tough. Shaffer and Chafardon immediately engaged in an exciting slugfest, until a combination of hooks to the body by Shaffer caused Chafardon to crumble to the canvas. Another exciting women’s bout, on the card featured Joy "Seek & Destroy" Irvin who fought a tough fight against Candace Lett. This fight was considered one of the best fights of the night, as both wanted the win and came to fight this night. Irvin and Lett fought toe-to-toe throughout the fight, until the third round when Irvin scored a big right hand that sent Lett to the canvas. The crowd was on their feet for most of their fight. The referee called a halt to the bout before the end of the third round. All these ladies showed that people do love women's boxing and that there is a demand for more female boxing.

February 4, 2003 - New Daisy Theatre in Memphis, Tennessee

The second round was just as exciting until a big left hook to the body had Dunaway stunned and receiving a standing eight count and ended with Shaffer landing a huge left hook to the body that prompted the referee to halt the bout at the closing bell of round two.
