(MAY 18, 2008) WBAN has just
recently taken the old footage of this weigh-in that took place on
June 19, 2003. The footage was shot by Multi-world champion Sumya
"The Island Girl" Anani, where there were two women's boxing matches
on the card.
It was a rematch for Laila "She Bee Stingin" Ali and Valerie Mahfood.
Also on the card featured Lucia Rijker vs. Jane Couch.The footage is amateur footage. It also includes some footage of
Lennox Lewis. At the time Laila Ali was not very happy
with the fact that they would not televised her fight, and there
were articles about her talking about this issue. The two women's
bouts were shown in Europe. At the time, Sumya Anani was the
MOST FEARED boxer in the sport. Literally NO ONE would fight
her. It was heartbreaking to see this very talented
boxer--shunned from the sport, promoters, matchmakers because she
was really considered the best in the sport.
