June 17, 2005 - SAS
Radisson, in Aarhus, Denmark
There were two women's bouts on the card. First,
Frida Wallberg, 130, of Gothenburg,
Sweden, remain undefeated after a 99-92, 99-91, and 99-91 win over
Zarika Fatuma, 125 1/4, from Kenya.
Wallberg now holds the WIBF Intercontinental title in Junior lightweight.
According to a local report, it was reported that the fight was a "tough"
fight, where Wallberg got the upper hand by using her left jab and right
hook well, but Fatuma remained dangerous and countered well. In a
second match, and a comeback for Anita
Christensen, 118, she won a 60-54, 60-54 and 60-54 points decision
over Oksana Romanova, 115 1/4,
of Ukraine.

Denmark’s
Anita Christiansen,
117.9, won a 10-round split decision over
Ada Velez, 117.5, and
became the new WIBA – WIBF Bantamweight World champion---But not without
controversy. In the eighth round, Christiansen was knocked down to the
canvass, but got up and finish the fight. According to WBAN’s insider,
the fight was very exciting and made the men’s boxing bouts look dull in
comparison. After the scores were read out for the Christiansen – Velez
fight, Velez was in disbelief, and in one report said that Velez “could
not believe her ears.” Apparently Velez was not happy about the
decision and left the ring, without congratulating Christiansen. The
two judges that scored the fight for Christiansen (97-94,
96-95) were both from
Denmark and
coincidentally BOTH had the last name of “Christiansen”. (Hopefully no
relation). The sole judge from Finland, had Velez ahead 97-93. Shortly
after the fight, Christiansen was asked if she thought that she won the
fight. Christiansen indicated that the fight was a very even fight, and
that she thought that Velez had a slight advantage. Christiansen also
added that she would give Velez a rematch.

On a card promoted by Teampalle, the scheduled Anita Christensen
vs. Hagar Shmuelfeld was changed to an
exhibition match without scoring due to Shmuelfeld being only
19 years old. The Danish legal system stipulate a minimum age of 21 for
professional boxers. Usually exemptions are granted from this rule for
boxers who presents a medical certificate, but the Danish Justice
Department refused to grant Smuelfeld this despite her having a valid
boxing licence and a doctor's certificate. The Justice Dept. demanded a
brain scan for the Israeli fighter, which forced Teampalle to change the
fight to an exhibition. The fighters were not influenced by the changed
status of the fight, and were both eager to show skills and heart.
After a somewhat cautious start in the early rounds, Anita Christensen
dominated the last 3-4 of the six rounds. Hagar Shmuelfeld was
certainly no pushover, although her short and unflattering record list
might suggest otherwise.
October 24, 2003 -
Copenhagen, Denmark
A card promoted by Team Palle, and telecasted on Pay-Per-View,
Denmark's Anita Christensen, 117 3/4, won United States boxer
Stephanie Dobbs, 114 3/4, with a six-round unanimous
decision in the 114 lbs. division. There were no knockdowns during the
fight. The final judges scoring was 60-54. Christensen came into
the fight close to four pounds over the weight limit. According the Danish
News, they wrote the following, "I need a
knockout win" said Anita Christensen before the fight. And when one saw
the two contestants profile, it sure looked like the girl from Randers
(Anita Christensen) who will be 32 years old Wednesday, would get her wish
granted. Dobbs normally competes as a Straweight and has a 9-10-2 record,
but Dobbs was not defeated as expected."

Anita Christensen won tonight's fight
after the referee stopped the fight 23 seconds into the sixth round.
Iliana Boneva showed a lot of courage and heart, but was obviously
overmatched. Anita Christensen scored almost at will throughout the
fight, and Iliana was hardly able to lay a glove on her. The
post interview with Anita Christensen revealed, that she busted her right
hand in the second round, which could jeopardize her planned title defense
against Galina Gumliiska on 9th November. She was taken to the local
hospital to have her hand examined.
September 7, 2001 Denmark
Anita Christensen fought a six-rounder against Damaris Muthoni.
The fight ended in a unanimous decision with Christensen walking away the
winner. Final scoring was 60-54, 60-54 & 60-53. News sources
reported that Anita Christensen was in control throughout the six rounds, although some ring rust was evident,
after her forced inactivity due to having surgery to her right hand had kept
her out of the ring. Damaris Muthoni, showed a lot of grittiness
and willing to go toe-to-toe with Christiansen. Muthoni's powerful
right hand remained dangerous throughout the fight. There were no
knockdowns in the fight, although Christiansen slipped in the second round,
afterf being wrestled to the floor by Muthoni. Muthoni did receive a
standing eight-count in the sixth round, but was able to weather the storm
until the final bell. Muthoni dropped to 2-3. Anita Christensen, who holds the European Bantamweight title, plans to
fight twice in both October and November. Her goal is to fight for a world championship after these tune up fights.

April 29, 2000, Varde, Denmark
Anita Christensen TKO'd Italian
Chiara Benedettini in
the third round. WBAN's European reporter
said that Christensen had prepared for her match
against Benedettini by going to Poland and
sparring with Iwona
Guzowska. Benedettini never seem to get
into the fight, and Christensen was better both
physically and technically. In the first
round, Christensen controlled the fight with left jabs to the head, and
she also worked the body with combinations. In
the second round, Christensen continued to
dominate the fight. The referee stopped the fight in the
third round when Benedettini started turning away. There were no knock downs.
Christensen moved her record to 3-0 and Benedettini
record fell to 2-2.
